Calcium is an alkali which removes the acid, the same as acids.acids neutralize the caustic soda and soda are its opposits.And acid in the stomach causing heartburn.

This is not really the calcium. Calcium (or aluminum) is attached to two hydroxide (hydrogen oxygen) molecules. Once in the stomach they separate (dissociate). The OH-(basic) combine with hydrogen ions (acid) to form water molecules.
