There are two classes of drugs that work by slightly different mechanisms for destroying HIV and in general a variety or combination of drugs are administered.
Zidovudine and lamivudine (Epivar) are IAG (RT inhibitors)
Nelfinavir and amprenavir are protease inhibitors
use of both types together is commonly called HAART (highly active antiretroviral therapy)
They are used to treat AIDS ... there may be newer drugs being used but if someone else may be able to provide more information.
