In many cases, an addict will not quit until it is too late. Sometimes you have to call one of the hotlines and drug abuse to get help quickly. A place called National Alcohol and Drug Abuse Foundation and they will direct you to the right people who can help you.

This service is free and gives you instant answers on addiction that your loved one perhaps. And as you call a hotline official, you can not be made to the police. Of course, you can call from a payphone, but their goal is to help you, do you turn in. They just want to make sure you get the help you need before the problem gets out of control.

Also, you'll be pleased to hear that you're protected by privacy laws. The only time your anonymity may be compromised if your situation was such that someone else was in danger because of your actions or possible future actions. In other words, for example, if you said on the phone that you were nervous and planned to kill someone else, then yes, that person by law must be notified and you might get into trouble.

But as suicide threats will generally not help you. A real suicide attempt I think is technically a crime, but you would need to consult a lawyer to be sure. If you call a hotline drug, you can also try to block your phone with * 67. I do not know how effective it is, but I heard it works well.

Make sure you get help for yourself or someone you love before it's too late. Remember, every day you wait is one day your health getting worse, and your dependence becomes stronger.
