Estrogen Only Pill

If you are still nursing, but your baby is eating solid food and nursing only 4 times a day, is there a higher chance of the pill less effective? And would it increase your chances of pregnancy? My doctor told me to wait until I was ready to detach to move to a regular pill. Now, I'm afraid of pregnancy ... my 7 month old baby.
