Gluten intolerance? I think I have a gluten intolerance .. only in recent months, I was very swollen get after eating carbohydrate-rich wheat .. Is there a test to see if its an intolerance?
Also, I know that gluten is expensive ... and do they lead to weight loss? Because I do not necessarily want that! I have a lot of muscle I want to keep around ..
Any advice would be great thanks:)
There are tests, but they are usually tested for celiac, and you should eat a normal diet without gluten complete for several weeks prior to their work and it is a form of celiac does not show up in quizzes (called "asymptomatic" CD, even if you still have symptoms - just none that can be tested directly), it is unlikely the value of a * result * negative.
celiac forums are filled with people who have tested negative and / or have been misdiagnosed with IBS, but certainly with an intolerance to gluten, in that when they arrive "glutened" without realizing it, they get all the terrible symptoms before they received their cut OUT. It is often the only way they know the meal, they went out (or otherwise) contained gluten.
A gluten-free diet need not be ridiculously expensive, so you're not trying to completely replace like for like. Many gluten-free versions of things are pretty disgusting anyway, you're better off just changing what you eat.
I mean, gluten-free bread is at least 6 times the price of regular bread, and taste dry, crumbly cake and tasteless. Personally, I just put it aside and eat corn instead Thins, which are delicious and not expensive at all. To replace the toast with eggs and things, I use potato fries that hash browns or baked in their skin.
A gluten-free diet may lead to weight loss, but only under certain circumstances (and it is unlikely to be severe enough to lead to loss of muscle). This is partly because the body reacts to gluten some people (if they are not digested properly) by demanding more food, causing overeating - and this is exacerbated if the selected food to eat item also contains gluten - just a vicious cycle to go. So anybody who has had this kind of thing happens often find that after cutting gluten reduced their appetite because they absorb all the food they eat, and as they begin to eat less therefore lose weight .
Another possible reason for losing weight is that at first many people did not find sufficient sources of carbohydrates to replace their previous high consumption of gluten, so you get the same kind of effect such as South Beach or Atkins. As food settled, it will go away (and low-carbohydrate diets are effective for about six months, anyway).
As I said, you can replace with carbohydrates, like potatoes, rice (brown rice has more nutrients), buckwheat, quinoa and abundance of fresh and dried fruits, including bananas. For snacks, you can select your orders in Asian stores such as Bombay Balti or mix (based on chickpea / gram / flour Besanason), or Japanese rice crackers and dried fruit and nuts. There are also some really quite acceptable (but usually expensive) cakes and biscuits available (at least in the United Kingdom, but we can not be unique) - and if you tolerate oats, it is always pancakes. If you cook, you can make macaroons with almonds or coconut, which are delicious.
I hope this is helpful.
Gluten intolerance is generally related to celiac disease. you can go to webmd.com for a description and medications can help. also search generla online support groups because they usually have diets that you can follow to help you and they are not all that terrible meal. The test is simple and takes only a few days to get the results back. Lactose intolerance is often assoc.
