Has anyone ever been on a drug called Lamictal for Bipolar? I was wondering if anyone has ever been on the drug Lamictal 150 mg. Has anyone ever had problems with it, such as weight gain, blood glucose or blood pressure with her?
The symptoms that are listed in medical journalists are hypersensitivity, kidney, skin irritation and is not recommended that it be taken during pregnancy. Headaches, irritability, drowsiness, tremor, nystagmus, ataxia, diplopia, blurred vision, gastrointestinal disturbances, atrhralgia, backache. Weight gain is only present in Prozac. Lithium is all together stronger than Lamictal. However, the maximum dose is 200 mg for an adult, an overdose will not cause death. I was on Lamictal, I found the symptoms were present headache and drowsiness, other than no further complications. It is much lighter compared to lithium which is also used to treat bipolar disorder.
Well, what you do, good luck!
Oh yes .... boy I started taking Lamictal 2 years ago and became pregnant shortly after I stopped and went back on the baby (a nurse didn't) and I gained more weight after losing 22 pounds week after childbirth. i now have more weight when I was pregnant with her aweful. bloodpressure is normal at this stage I think its 115/79. yeah, but this is not the greatest around drugs. but they all work differently for different people. Hope this helps.
the only thing I will say is that Lamictal is a drug useless
I am taking a combination of Lamictal (300 mg) and Seroquel (200 mg) for a bipolar and impulsivity during normal fluctuations between the bipolar spectrum. No rash. No negative side effects at all for me. Nothing but good things to say .. been on it for a few years. The best thing there so far ... me.
I softened a lot of SEROQUEL and had a welcome improvement on the highs and extreme lows. With increasing dose .. wary of rash .. Start very low dose and work your way up what makes you comfortable .. but know that it is known that the risk of developing a rash, which increases proportionally to the dose and jump directly to a high dose. Make sure you go to your doctor. or read about yourself before you go .. it is called Stevens-Johnson syndrome and worth every band because it is fatal if not caught immediately potentiall.
Lamictal gets a big thumb up from me:)
No health problems related worrysome .. you mentioned .. other than an increased amount of protein in samples of blood .. my diet is probably something related. Weight gain was very little for me .. perhaps 5 pounds in a few years? Again .. could be food?
Blood pressure and sugar are in the normal range. Everything is good.
Hope you do well and
Good luck:)
Hope this helps:)
I'm on Lamictal (200mg) now for bipolar. After the previous six stablizers mood is by far the best med I'm on. I've been on it for about a year now and I have lived next to no side effects apart from occasional headaches, which is a small sacrifice to regain my sanity. It does not give me this gray, a feeling of emptiness that all other mood stabilizers did. From what I read about it, it is especially effective for someone who has particular problems with the side of bipolar depression.
I take 150 mg of Lamictal, and I have been on it for over a year now. This is the longest period of time I was on the same drug, and not switching. It helps a little, but I still feel like crap most of the time.
But I still take it. For me, the side effects are very mild. Lamictal actually decreased my appetite and made me lose weight. Sometimes, he tires me, if I take on an empty stomach.
I'm on it for the last dose of 2 is 25 days.Initial mg.But all.
