Neurontin Drug

My doctor has prescribed it to me to relieve the discomfort associated with chronic low back pain. I looked on the internet and see that it is usually prescribed for seizures. Is it also an effective medication to relieve back pain as well, or was it may be prescribed in error. I had steroid injections in the lower back of a received some relief. I would really like to hear from those who have knowledge of the drug Neurontin and those who have had steroid injections for back pain and what kind of results you've experienced both. Thank you!
