What are the symptoms of vitiligo? I want to know the symptoms of vitiligo by which it would be easy to diagnose vitiligo.
People who develop vitiligo patches generally agreed initially white (depigmentation) on their skin. These plates are most commonly found on sun-exposed areas of the body, including hands, feet, arms, face and lips. Other common areas for white spots that appear are the armpits and groin and around the mouth, eyes, nostrils, navel, genitals, rectum and regions.
Vitiligo generally appears in one of three models:
1. Focal pattern-the depigmentation is limited to one or a few areas
2. segmental pattern-depigmented patches develop on one side of the body
3. The most common general pattern. Depigmentation occurs symmetrically on both sides of the body.
In addition to white patches on the skin, people with vitiligo may have premature aging of the scalp hair, eyelashes, eyebrows and beard. People with dark skin may notice a loss of color inside their mouths.
Your start losing skin pigment to random places on your body. It generally occurs around age 18. My ex-GF has the loss of pigmentation in random places on his body. She said there was no cure for it or therapy available is not very effective.
