Zyprexa

i hae bipolar mania and panic attacks. To do this, last year I was on lithium and Xanax (low dose) announced today phschchiatrist put me on zyprexa which is in the family respidal made me mad. I'm so afraid to take this cause I do not want the same reaction. What should I do?

Dear Gen, I have an obsessive compulsive disorder and were prescribed antipsychotics such as Zyprexa, Risperdal, Seroquel and Abilify to treat my anxiety. Yes, all these drugs are in the same family, but simply because you experienced serious side effects with one of these drugs does not necessarily mean you will experience the same side effects with another antipsychotic. Not everyone experiences the same side effects while taking a particular drug. For example, you had a very bad experience while taking Risperdal, but someone else takes it, may not experience side effects at all. Side effects vary from person to person. Not everybody is the same. Although I am not a doctor, my advice to you would be talking to your doctor immediately before taking Zyprexa, and tell him you are very concerned about taking this medication because you had a bad experience at taking Risperdal. Do not be afraid to ask your psychiatrist any questions you may have. The more information you tell him, the more he or she can help.

im tracked for bipolar by my therapist sent me to a mental health unit for young people and they put me on zyprexa for mania.i had an allergic reaction to respiradone but nothing happened when I went on it got zyprexa makes you sleep a lot and I didn 't t have a reaction out of vomit and sleep a lot. I know you must be afraid, but it is better to give it a try. I was scared at first, then I tried. most medications for bipolar and anxiety are in the same catagorie.
Hopefully they find the medication you should.
